Technorati Profile

Comments made at Better Living Through Software (Tales of Life at Microsoft) display a knee-jerk opposition to my C|Net article which makes me wonder whether the author even bothered to read the article. The author seems to think open source is about source code - but it is about community development. The author seems to think the open source licenses are complex - but they are hygiene factors for the community and as such they are broken if they are complex or damage the work of an individual/entity.

The regurgitated Microsoft party line from this author claims to talk about 'liberty' but is buying superficial freedoms at the cost of general liberty. This is just more newspeak. What I learn more from this self-confessed Microsoft viewpoint is the nature of the attack Microsoft continues to make on the community of open source communities. We need to be prepared to defend against this sort of vague FUD.
