The One That Got Away [PhotoTravel]

Home at last! Let's start with a picture from Sydney. The Botanical Gardens there are a great place to spend an afternoon. Whereas in Britain one would find pigeons prowling around looking for scraps, in Sydney there are ibis everywhere - imagine a bird about 36" with a big curved bill pecking around the benches. This one is looking wistfully at the 36" koi carp it missed...

It's been a long time since I had decent internet access - really looking forward to getting home tomorrow just for that (am I sad or what?). I have some great photos from Australia and from Hawai'i where I finally got to visit the eruption area of the volcano for the first time - I'll post them when I can finally get my own computer on a LAN.

Sorry for the long absence. My calendar was full to bursting in Australia and then I got sick and was essentially in bed for three days (barring a little experimental exercise). I decided to reroute to Hawai'i for a little recovery break on my way to California, so that's where I am now. But Dilbert has a great illustration of my job which I felt I had to share...
