Cool Tool - jAlbum
jAlbum screen shotI've been looking for a flexible way to build web albums from my photo collection. iPhoto can do it, but the results look basic, as do those from some of the other things I own (like PhotoShop Elements 2). I found jAlbum, a cross-platform tool that takes a directory full of pictures and builds thumbnails and slideshows and then generates web pages that use editable templates to determine the content and style sheets to determine the display layout. It has its weaknesses (JPEG rendering seems slow, some of the features are a bit geeky) but it creates the best results I have seen to date - here's a sample with animals from our visit to Queensland.
