Freemind
I like mind maps as a tool for collecting my thoughts for writing and presentations, but I can't draw in any way that seems even vaguely acceptable so I rarely show anyone my work. I was pleased to discover a cross-platform*, open source mind mapping program called FreeMind. Looks very cool so far, I'll be using it to design some work I am doing next week so if it is indeed cool I'll report back.

*Yes, I mean a Java application
