Une Petite Incident
You will have heard me saying over and over that I have never seen a case of someone sacked just for blogging - there's always a deeper issue and either the blogging is an excuse or the stuff blogged is a breach of employment terms in some way. I may have just seen my first ever example of it happening, though.

I have been reading Petite Anglaise now for some time. Each posting is wry, amusing, full of warmth and human interest and many have a sting in the tail. Today's posting certainly had a sting. Petite revealed that the apparently clueless accountants she works for had summarily dismissed her for "gross misconduct" for publishing - anonymously and without identifying either herself or them - a blog.

All I have to go in is the Telegraph article about it but on the surface it looks like the worst sort of old-school behaviour. Having read Petite for ages I'd say that I am charmed by her and impressed by her tact and writing skill, and unless they have a blogging policy she's violated I think they deserve criticism and she deserves some coins in her tip jar to help with the legal fees.

More: Fine comment here to Petite's posting:
Your boss thinks your blog was hurting the firm’s reputation? I suggest he quickly hires himself a good crisis management PR firm, because, he did more damage by himself than anyone else!
Yes indeed.
