22 June London SIGS Application Development 2000 I delivered the Thursday morning keynote and gave two interviews. The book I recommended is available from Amazon UK and Amazon US.
10-14 July Prague and Munich Press Tour Visited Prague and Munich and gave press interviews. If only I could read Czech I could find out what the articles say...
August California Family holiday Saw beautiful places, met up with friends, relaxed.
26-31 August Beijing and Singapore Press Tour Visited Beijing for the first time (where I took the Tianenmen Square photo I use in my keynote) and Singapore.
5-7 September Boston, MA XML World I delivered my keynote as part of a sequence of industry keynote addresses.

2 October San Francisco, CA Baystart I delivered a keynote address to a rather small audience. The coverage that resulted was excellent though.
18-20 October London XMLOne I was the conference co-chair (with Kelvin Lawrence of IBM) and delivered the opening remarks.
29 October - 3 November Keystone, CO Colorado Software Summit In a beautiful setting high in the Rockies, this conference remains the best place for experienced Java and XML practitioners to get up-to-date education. It has a great, expert community and I highly recommend it, if you can get a place. I delivered the 'closing' keynote.
15 November Toronto, Canada Java and Object Technology Forum I delivered the opening keynote address for this small but enthusiastic conference in Canada.
16 November Las Vegas, NV COMDEX I went to COMDEX for the first time in six years to support Snap Appliances in their announcement of the provision of Java support in the Snap Server 4100 - this will provide a Java appliance, I think it will be huge.
30 November Washington, DC MedBiquitous Consortium Executive Conference I delivered the opening address at this fascinating event, the launch of the new cooperative consortium for data and processing standards between medical professional societies. Thanks for the warm reception! I hope your initiative receives the support and success it deserves.
5 December San Jose, CA Wireless Devcon I delivered a keynote address. The J2ME toolkit I demonstrated can be downloaded from Sun's J2ME web site.

17 January Palo Alto, CA Standards Webcast I participated in a live panel and webcast on standards with people from Microsoft, IBM, Red Hat and The Open Group
27 January Caribbean Sea XML eXcursion I delivered the keynote on board ship for this XML event. Presentation slides are available.
5 February San Francisco, CA Sun ONE launch I participated in the general hullabaloo in the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
7-8 February Scottsdale, AZ XML Enabled eBusiness I delivered a keynote address and participated in a panel on XML and Wireless. The Keynote slides are available.

26 February Beijing, PRC SunONE Press Conference I explained SunONE to an educated and attentive audience of journalists in Beijing. I also got the chance to walk the Great Wall.
27 February Shanghai, PRC Sun Solutions Fair I delivered a keynote address about SunONE, met Sun customers and spoke at a press conference and in press group discussions.
1 March Taipei, Taiwan, ROC SunONE briefings I gave an internal presentation, met a customer, spoke at an iForce partner briefing and met local journalists.
13-14 March London Wireless Java I chaired day 1 of this conference, as well as presenting a keynote on day 1 and participating in a panel on Open Source on day 2.
20-22 March London XMLOne I co-chaired the conference with Kelvin Lawence of IBM
27 March Amsterdam XML World I delivered the opening keynote address.
28 March Santa Clara, CA O'Reilly Enterprise Java Conference I delivered the opening keynote address and answered a number of interesting questions before engaging in some press interviews. O'Reilly posted a load of photographs of me in action too!
10 April San Jose, CA Web Services World I spoke straight after Rod Smith of IBM in the opening keynote session of this new conference. The conference organizers have a recording of my talk online.

4-8 June San Francisco, CA JavaOne 2001 No doubt about it, this is still the ultimate conference - nothing else has the blend of huge numbers of people, information and eduaction straight from the source and endless social stimulation. One day at JavaOne is the same as a week at any other event in terms of the sheer energy and quantity of the thing. Anyway, I spoke at several events and gave a number of media interviews - see the Clippings page.

29 June Brussels, Belgium MedBiquitous Europe launch Repeating my keynote of last November in Washington, I had the great pleasure to help the medical sharing consortium MedBiquitous launch their european initiative. A deeply charming group of people, cultured and intelligent, with a vision to transform their community through technology sharing and co-operation.
29 August Boston, MA SD Web Services World I delivered a keynote at the conference, which you can hear at DDJ.
11 September Erfurt, Germany NetObjectDays I delivered an invited speech at this annual high-point of the German object and Java world.
17 October London Heathrow SunONE I delivered two talks, one about SunONE and one my usual speech.
18 October Belgium Sun Developer Day I delivered a keynote at this large developer event - Belgium seems hot for Java.

13 November Dublin, Ireland CSE Conference I delivered a keynote at this specialist software engineering conference in Ireland
27 November London, England Wireless Java I chaired the first day of this conference again.
29 November New Orleans, LA JavaPro Tech Summit I delivering a keynote and participated in a discussion on web application servers. The conference was broadly speaking a wash-out - I keynoted to 34 people.
3-4 December Stanford, CA The Once and Future Web I participated on the second ("Future") day of this event, the 10th birthday of America's first web site. Reviewed here.
6 December New York, NY New York Java SIG I spoke at their evening meeting in Greenwich Village
14 December Orlando, FL XML 2001 I had great fun delivering the conference round-up keynote on the final day.

9 February Harvard Business School Cyberposium I was a panellist, talking on Web Services. One of the more controversial asides got reported in eWeek You can see a webcast of the panel.
28 February New York, NY Reuters Summit I was involved in a panel at their technology summit.
1 March Savannah, GA Customer Internal Event I delivered a talk on web services and XML pipelines.
13 March Dublin XML Ireland SIG I was the guest speaker for the evening and also participated in a panel on web services (billed as XML and databases :-).
25-29 March San Francisco, CA JavaOne The original and still the best. For the first time I got to speak on main stage (on a panel on Thursday) as well as loads of media work.
